JAZZLYN SMITH
Spring 2023
" I joined Volunteer oxford because I came from an underfunded high school. I've always wanted to volunteer, but transportation was literally always the issue because my parents worked a lot, and I don't know how to drive yet. So, I figured this will be an opportunity for me to finally start getting into community service like I originally wanted.

KRISTEN GRAM
January 2021
I am current first-year living on campus at Oxford. Although I'm still not 100% sure about what I want to major in here at Emory, I am planning to do the 3/2 program with Georgia Tech with a major in biomedical engineering. I participated in the Oxford day of service (gift wrapping, puzzle cutting) and I am currently involved in the WSCC after-school program 2 times a week. I volunteer because I want to give back to the world all that it has given to me; knowledge, support, solidarity.

JENNA HOLTON
November 2020
I am a first-year, and I plan to double major in English and Psychology to enter cognitive psychological research and writing. I am a Junior Project Coordinator for the Social Justice Sector, where I have had the joy of planning our Social Justice Dialogues. I helped with the VE SJE collaboration last semester, where we hosted Dr. Sewell and Professor Bell for a conversation on Defunding the Police and Police Abolition. I also orchestrated the viewing party and discussion for Totally Under Control. I look forward to working more with BSA, FRN, and VO HHP, as we spread awareness about food insecurity in communities of color and prepare snack packs for the kids of the Washington Street Community Center. Outside of SJS, I tutor WSCC fifth-graders with the Education sector. I’m excited to continue working to provide spaces for Oxford students to have difficult and necessary conversations. This open dialogue allows us to better understand and challenge the often unseen and ignored social injustices that grip our society.

SASHA RIVERS
October 2020
I am a second-year from Cape Cod, MA now currently living in Atlanta. I am pursuing a degree in Arabic, with a minor in Jewish Studies. When I was still living on campus, I volunteered with VO for a Red Cross blood drive, and even donated a pint myself!
